Bathrooms

Bathroom cabinets can be both — functional and attractive, providing much-needed storage in highly trafficked and often cramped spaces. They can help to emphasize a design theme, or offer an opportunity for creativity through a bold visual statement. Cabinet storage for bathrooms comes in many forms, from standalone cabinet pieces to bathroom vanities that include a sink as well as drawers and cabinets.

Depending on the size and configuration of your bathroom, integrated or standalone cabinet storage may be more appropriate. If your bathroom often hosts two users in a small space, for example, integrated storage with equally divided, symmetrical storage can be a great solution; that way, both users can store and access their bath supplies easily. Alternatively, if you have a bit more space, you can include both vanity cabinets and standalone cabinets. Standalone cabinets are particularly useful for storing towels and other linens, as well as bulkier bath accessories like hair dryers. They can also be a great place to house guest amenities like extra soap and shampoo.

Sleek, veneer surface cabinets modernize an outdated bath and are easier to maintain than traditional raised-panel cabinets with decorative ridges that trap dirt and dust. But cleaning aside, a trend toward cabinetry that looks like furniture can give a bathroom an eclectic or modern-antique look. Of course, there’s more to cabinets than appearances: Storage is a high priority in the bathroom, and in such a small space, there never seems to be enough room to stow toiletries, linens and more.
